Chapter 3

Software Installation



Software installation requires the hardware installation to be complete according to the previous chapter.

3.1 Storing the TCP program on the ASPECT disk

If you have an 8 inch diskette with the TCP programm delivered together with the TcpLink for the ASPECT 3000 you have to copy the file TCP to the disk of the ASPECT.

The files with the caracteristics of the disks for data transfer are all text files that must be created with a text editor on the ASPECT . You may use for example teco or the DISNMR commands ed or edit. Another possibility is to create the files using the PC text editor and than convert this .txt file into

3.2 Destination file on the ASPECT for data transfer :

Host name, login id and password are not required. The archiving device must be selected via its device code.
a: (device code of the archive, e.g. 'a:'=floppy drive)

/data (destination directory on archive )

exit (must terminate the file)

Please note that the simplest form of a destination directory is /. Each unit has at least one archiving device available, namely a 3.5 inch floppy disk drive. Additional devices will get device codes such as e:, f:, ... assigned.

3.3 Host computer software installation


The program TcpLink has to be installed on the Windows 2000 PC. After inserting the TcpLink CD into the PC double click setup.exe into the directory TcpLink_3000_USB and follow the installation instructions.

Plug USB cable from the TcpLink into the USB connector of the PC. The first time the Windows 2000 requests the corresponding driver software. It is find on the TcpLink CD into the directory Driver.
